Are you ready for some invaluable lessons about how to make your BEST LIFE? I’ve been on an eye-opening journey and have learned many lessons that I'm willing to share.
Lesson 1: Happiness is not a skill. It’s an attitude.
Your happiness is based on your mindset. Without the right mindset, any actions you take in life will be erratic and misguided. You need to get your mindset into peak condition for the happiest life. This means learning how to foster a positive and winning attitude. For some, this will be easy, and is just a matter of a few minor adjustments to how you think and view the world; for others it might be a complete overhaul in the way you think and behave, in all areas of your life. If you’re determined to be happy in life and foster a winning mindset, you have to do (and be) what it takes. You have to step up and apply a winning mindset to every facet of your life.
Lesson 2: Focus on Continual Improvement and Take Action Every Day
If you’re prepared to give it everything it takes, then you’ll take real action toward your dreams every single day and thereby build happiness. Happiness is inevitable when you are regularly achieving milestones because you are pushing yourself along your life's journey by taking responsibility for making things happen. By doing this, anyone can be happy; it comes down to your own determined mindset and unrelenting actions toward making your best life. Remember that a small action every day accumulates into a big result over time.
Lesson 3: Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a big part of a happy life. Throughout your life's journey, listen to your gut instincts; they are often right! Also be aware of how you feel and behave and remember to keep any fear you experience, in perspective. Everyone can experience self doubt, negative inner talk and fears; but those who conquer it recognise the signs when they happen and know how to disempower that inner voice with self awareness and logic. They know it can be stopped!
Lesson 4: Surround Yourself with Positive People
The environment you expose yourself to is very powerful. By associating with positive people, you will be positive, happier and more resourceful in living a happy life. Positive people will support and encourage you to achieve things and be happy. Having negative people in your environment will make it difficult to remain positive and inspired, making a happy life harder to attain.
Lesson 5: Always Learn New Things
Did you know that knowledge is power? The more you learn, the more opportunities that will come your way. Some people believe that they don’t need to read books to learn new things. They believe that they can learn it all themselves through their own experience. While experience is a great way to learn, it can also be slow and isolating. By learning from others, you accelerate your strength and happiness while feeling more connected to other people who have been on a similar path. The result is that you transport yourself light years ahead of where you would be without these resources.
Lesson 6: Stay Focused
It is easy to get distracted with so much noise in our modern world. People can easily jump around from one thing to another. My advice is don’t have a Plan B; it only ever detracts from Plan A! Don’t lose sight of what you want to achieve. Throughout your life's journey, stay focused on your goals and you will achieve them.
Lesson 7: Accept Feeling Uncomfortable
When you’re wanting to get from one place to another, you rarely feel “comfortable”. In life, you don’t know what is going to happen next and what is possible. You don’t have it all figured out, and you probably won’t ever have it all figured out. If there ever comes a time that you do feel “comfortable”, you might want to question this! It is actually good to feel uncomfortable because it keeps you agile, adaptable and ready for whatever comes your way. Discomfort often means growth. This is why travel is so good for you; not only is it great to go and experience new things, new people and new environments, but in the process of that initial discomfort of 'stepping outside your comfort zone', you get to grow and make wonderful memories. It means that you are not complacent, stagnant or afraid of change; you’re ready to move and adapt with life and try new things, rather than putting up resistance and fighting change.
Lesson 8: Remain Motivated During Difficult Times
When faced with difficult times, I like to remind myself that these moments in time will inevitably pass and the sun will shine again. No matter what difficulties you experience, the one thing that is certain is that life goes on no matter what. By forcing action in the direction you want your life to go, especially during difficult times, you are gradually moving yourself away from those difficult times, to a better and happier place. By focusing on your path to happiness, you automatically make yourself more resilient to problems, setbacks and difficulties because you are in control of your own destiny. You feel better about yourself and become stronger through your own actions. Knowing this and continually moving forward is what can help you stay motivated during difficult times.
Lesson 9: Be Persistent and Never Give Up!
There will be problems, setbacks and mistakes made along your life's journey. This is inevitable. Don’t let these stop you. There is always a way to bulldoze through, or work around a problem or obstacle. The key to being happy in life is persistence. Don’t give up!
Lesson 10: Life is a Series of Seasons
While you will have your times in the sun, you will also have your times in the night. The key to a happy life is to see and embrace the precious gifts that each season brings you and use these gifts to achieve an incredible life.
